Amouage Beach Hut Man Review: The Most Performing Fragrance
Amouage is an Omani based Niche house. They are famous for their very eccentric blends and their not just high but royal quality ingredients. They are one of the houses that bespeak Niche in all aspects, meaning whichever fragrance they make, It will be like nothing you have ever smelled before. Having said that, They also have a very distinctive DNA which utilizes quite un-familiar notes which puts a lot of focus on oriental or basic notes like leather, amber, oud and musk. One of the very characteristic facts about Amouage is the massive performance, which we will get to shortly.
Now, as the weather gets hotter, we start fetching our summer and spring perfumes. Our guest of honor today falls under this category. It was created by the beautiful Elise Benat in 2017. I am talking about Amouage’s Beach Hut Man. This perfume can fall under many classifications. You can call it a green perfume, an aromatic perfume, a fougere or even a woody perfume.
Beach Hut Man starts off with a massive blast of fresh aquatic mint which really engages everyone near or far from you. The opening also comprises some green grassy Galbanum and some orange blossom which flies under the radar but can still be detected slightly. The heart introduces some green Ivy leaves accompanied by some earthy calming vetiver and some manly moss. The Moss here is so pure that you would mistake it for natural oakmoss, which has been prohibited by the IFRA.
The Dry down becomes prominent with one of the greatest notes and a real head turner, the Myrrh. The Myrrh sustains the dry down and turns the fragrance into a woody yet eccentric and mysterious perfume. Some woody notes , like earthy Patchouli and liquorice, accompany the Myrrh in the drydown and stay there till the end of the perfume’s life.
Getting to the performance category, if you know your way around Amouage, you do not need to worry about performance. Beach Hut Man is undeniably one of the strongest, If not the strongest, performing summer perfumes ever created. Be it longevity, Sillage or projection, Beach Hut Man shakes all grounds. I mean I literally get compliments 24 hours after application!
In terms of versatility and wearability, I believe Amouage Beach Hut Man achieved the elusive task of creating a summer perfume that is so strong and can be worn by any age group. The only situation that I advise against is close encounters like office work as the fragrance may be quite offensive due to its strong and harsh nature.
