Hidden Gems vol.5: Boucheron Jaipur Homme

Boucheron is one of the most sumptuous fashion houses, mostly known for their jewelry collections. The house released Jaipur Homme Eau de Parfum in 1997 as the brainchild of the insightful Annick Menardo. Having been met with great acclaim and success, the house followed with the launch of the Eau de Toilette version, providing the fanbase with even more options to wear this exciting scent.

Jaipur Homme Eau de Parfum is a fragrance that is inspired by traditional masculine sensibilities. It induces a warm fatherly vibe with one of the best powdery dry downs. If you are into powdery fragrances, this one might prove to be right up your alley, and it should be your next pick if you are looking to shop for the season.

Upon the first sniff, you will be greeted with vintage lime and bergamot. The opening is pretty straightforward with simple yet harsh citruses, but once the heart of the fragrance unfolds itself, you start to understand the brilliance of the perfume. The heart introduces warm cinnamon which elevates the classical opening into new heights.

The heart also houses underlying amber, spicy carnation and a little bit of rose, followed by an enchanting dry down. Its powdery feel is so magnificent and exotic that you would forget how the opening smelled like. The dry down is composed of fine resinous benzoin, delicious vanilla and classy cedarwood.

The performance of Jaipur is also praiseworthy. The fragrance lasts for the whole day. The sillage is decent, and it extends for about an arm’s length and goes for 3 to 4 hours. If you particularly care about sillage like myself, I recommend getting the Eau de Toilette edition.

As far as wearability is concerned, Jaipur is pretty versatile. It can be worn in any occasion and any season. It is very sophisticated in composition and degradation between top, middle and base notes that you may make the assumption that it consists of 3 distinctive fragrantic formulas. The only downside of Jaipur Eau de Parfum is the traditional and rough citrusy opening, but don’t let the opening scare you off and remember that all good things come to those who wait. In short, I think Boucheron Jaipur Eau de Parfum is a great fragrance and it is a great value for money.
