Tesla owner Elon Musk is a polarizing character. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if he is trolling Twitter or being serious. When he made a Tweet about a fragrance called Burnt Hair, most of us passed it off as a joke and didn’t pay much mind to it. However, he has created a listing for Burnt Hair on his website, The Boring Company. He even went as far as changing his Twitter job to “perfume salesman”.
The entrepreneur stated that his fragrance is “Just like leaning over the dinner table, but without all of the hard work”. He has also stated that “With a name like mine, getting into the fragrance business was inevitable” when he was undoubtably speaking about his surname being Musk. We all know that memes have circulated for years about that. Maybe our virtual desires are coming to fruition.
The fragrance has no notes listed, but one can assume it promises to be quite smoky by the name. He hasn’t divulged too much about the actual scent. He has coined it “The finest fragrance on earth” and “The essence of repugnant desire”. It is often said that seeing is believing, and I guess in this case that smelling would be believing since we have very little information on it.
As far as the aesthetics go, it is housed in a deep red curved bottle that slightly resembles a potion from the medieval ages. The front features “Burnt Hair” in cursive script, with “Singed” at the bottom in plainer lettering.
Mr. Musk posted on Twitter, “Over 5000 bottles of Burnt Hair sold”. It is available on the Boring Company website for $100 and it will ship in the first quarter of 2023.
Who knows if this will be a limited run, but I am sure many people will want to “Stand out in a crowd! Get noticed as you walk through the airport”, so maybe he will create more perfumes if it is lucrative enough for him. One can only hope to get some original offerings from such an innovative man.
