Carolina Herrera CH Pasion for Men and Women: The New Face of Leather
Carolina Herrera is known to be a brand that values class and sophistication. After dressing several first ladies, the brand is well-known to be a staple of elegance. The American has released a new duo of scents for men and women coined with the name Pasión, which means passion. Well, if you know anything about the brand, you will know they are passionate about leather, and that is just what this pair is all about.
CH Pasión for women is inspired by the luxurious handbags that the fashion designer is famous for. Another creation by the trending perfumer, Quentin Bisch. He has surely been doing a lot of scents lately, but I am not complaining. There is a reason for his success, he is simply talented. The sun-kissed melody opens with vibrant bergamot, green pear, and black pepper. As the heart is revealed, Arabian jasmine enters the fold with a gorgeous violet leaf. As the light rests behind the horizon and the base shows its face, we get a deeply sensual leather accord that flirts with vanilla.
Notes
Top – Bergamot, Pear, and Black Pepper
Heart – Jasmine and Violet Leaf
Base – Vanilla, Vetiver, White Musk, and Leather
The men’s version is signed, sealed, and delivered by Christophe Raynaud and Antoine Masondiue. Pasión features top notes of pink pepper and neroli, to embody the coastal regions of southern Europe. Playful lily intertwines with the warmness of cedar and incense in the heart. An intoxicating trail of myrrh, vanilla, and tonka bean close out the vividly luxurious scent.
Notes
Top – Pink Pepper and Neroli
Heart – Lily, Cedar, and Incense
Base – Tonka Bean, Vanilla, and Myrrh
In my opinion, Carolina Herrera is playing with contrasts with these releases. What appears to be a more playful women’s release is the opposite of the men’s one, with a darker, richer, and more resinous character. It’s quite brilliant that they didn’t just try to make a male and female version of the same scent, but rather opted to take it in two different directions. I can appreciate that.
The bottles are both wrapped in faux leather, with a horizontal H attached a C on both sides. The female version comes in a pink skin, which clearly represents the flirty nature of the scent, while the men’s version comes in a brown skin, showcasing the warmer tones of the perfume. They will come in a 100ml sizes with the men’s version costing around $130, and the women’s running around $150.
