If you listen carefully, you’ll be able to hear wedding bells chiming everywhere. It’s that season when lovers vow to love one another eternally. So, is there a better occasion than a wedding to think of a way to eternalize that special day except through a perfume that emanates elegance, grace, and sophistication? I cannot honestly think of a better fragrance befitting a joyous occasion, such as a wedding, other than Carat Eau De Parfum by the ever-so-luxurious house, Cartier!

Carat is a perfume that is just as luminous as a bulky 10-carat diamond ring! There is definitely no better choice for the name other than the one the house opted for. Carat was issued in 2018 and I only discovered it 3 years later! It is a shame I could sleep on such a beauty for three years!
I remember when I first got my hands on the sample, I was hooked. I was greeted by a visual image of the sun radiating through a precious diamond, the kind of sun that fills your heart with content and admiration for just being alive. That’s the first fragrance I own to have introduced me to this concept, which is to be able to conjure real-life images only through olfactory experience. Therefore, I searched high and low for an entire year until I got my hands on the 100ml bottle.
Carat EDP arrived in a heavy, doubled glass, square-cut facets bottle, similar to a diamond. For me, the bottle felt like it is a visual representation of the sophistication and grandiose that are depicted in this olfactory experience. With all that being said, the bottle is an absolute dazzling gem, literally!

As for the composition, Carat opens up with sharp and green notes that are cool and crisp, along with some zest from the bergamot. It isn’t overpowering by any means, and it does not drag the fragrance towards a citrus-y direction. The bergamot is immediately accompanied by a bright, sparkling bouquet of dewy flowers that are ever so gentle. These gorgeous flowers, violet, iris, hyacinth, ylang-ylang, daffodil, honeysuckle, and tulip, join hands and become one powerful presence that smells divine together, it’s inexplicable! Frankly, I could no longer tell them apart.
Having said that, violets, lilies, and tulips are quite prominent and take the center stage; for they make the blend super airy and clean, kind of like walking into a florist’s shop, and you cannot help but appreciate all the intertwined floral whiffs. Also, ylang-ylang adds this extra bit of density to the fragrance. There’s also a powdery accord you’d have to pay attention to be able to detect it. It doesn’t make the perfume lean to the powdery side, albeit helps add to the needed freshness of the concoction.

I must admit that the note I savor the most in here is the pear because the sweetness originating from the juicy fruit is undeniably breathtaking. Pears add just the right amount of sweetness without dragging the perfume to the gourmand side. The fragrance’s dry down is not any less gorgeous; it becomes softer and closer to the skin as time goes by.
As far as Carat’s longevity is concerned, I could clearly detect it on my clothes after 12 hours of wear. The sillage on this one does not exceed the two-hour mark. However, with something this mesmerizing, I definitely don’t mind reapplying throughout the day, if needed.
Carat fits springtime, obviously, but I personally think it is also a perfect fit for all seasons. I perceive it as one of the scents that isn’t hindered by changing climates. It will always do its best in whichever conditions you wear it in. I equally enjoyed it in the scorching heat of summer as well as the coolest breezes of winter.

In my opinion, Carat can be worn by any age group. It fits any woman whose personal preferences are extremely meticulous and does not like to smell as anyone else around her or follow trends. It is a scent for a lady who’s well aware of her alluring aura, and how she mesmerizes everyone upon meeting her, yet she’s not, by any means, trying to be seductive or attractive. That’s the rarest attitude a woman can have, to be naturally and unintentionally seductive, yet she’s graceful and effortlessly turns heads. This blend is sheer and transparent, to say the least. Needless to mention that it’s a fragrance worthy of being a signature scent.
Do you own Carat or on the fence to buy it? What are your thoughts? Share your thoughts in the comments section, I’d like to read them all.
