Clive Christian is one of the longstanding, royal niche houses in the perfume industry. The London-based brand was established in 1872. It is referred to as ‘royal’ because it was granted the use of the royal crown emblem by Queen Victoria as a sign of quality and excellence, and like royal knights, Clive Christian kept the oath, for all their fragrances bespeak royalty and elegance. When you wear a Clive Christian creation, heads will turn and people will acknowledge your presence as that of someone who, by no means, is a commoner. In today’s review, we are going to analyze one of Clive Christian’s latest releases, Town & Country.

Town & Country review:
Town & Country is an aromatic, woody, and spicy fragrance which was released in 2023. It is one of the modern takes on classic fragrances and an excellent one for that matter! I believe that Town & Country very smoothly balances the masculine sensibilities of a Renaissance gentleman, and the modern interpretation of masculinity from this generation’s perspective, all the while giving off this royal vibe.
Town & Country starts with a classic note of clary sage that is soon heightened by a heart of rich, warm, and creamy sandalwood. In the dry-down, the fragrance turns resinous and oriental thanks to the addition of grey amber. Moreover, the notes are beautifully blended, and the transition between the fragrance’s phases is so comfortably smooth.
Town & Country is a testament to the house’s genius since what you smell in the opening is totally divergent from what you get in the dry-down. I might as well add that, at any time, you can almost smell and distinguish between the three main notes in Town & Country. However, every time you press your nose against where you sprayed, you will smell something offbeat. The sandalwood and amber combo is also so tamed in Town & Country to prevent the fragrance from becoming very heavy and oriental, and I believe the fragrance to be nose-friendly and very appealing to the average consumer.

Performance:
As expected from a royal-inspired house like Clive Christian, the performance of Town & Country is superb! It offers great longevity, overwhelming sillage, and decent projection. You will not need to reapply the fragrance throughout the day, as six or seven sprays will definitely be enough to make you stand out all day.
Wearability and versatility:
Town & Country is very versatile! Be it day or night, summer or winter, you can effortlessly pull it off. I would advise against wearing it in extremely hot weather, though. As for the intended target audience, I think most of Clive Christian’s fragrances cater to relatively mature people. You need to have an adult taste to appreciate the fragrance, not to mention afford it! It is marketed as unisex, but I honestly see this as an emblem of masculinity; I can hardly find it appealing to a lady, but to each his/her own.

Size, bottle, and price:
Town & Country comes in a 50 ml red bottle, with a golden crown for a cap. It retails for 400 GBP, which is steep if you ask me. The Packaging is what you’ve come to expect from Clive Christian, exquisite to say the least. I do not think it can get any more royal than this!
Conclusion:
Town & Country is another hit by Clive Christian that captivates hearts and minds. Its strong performance is matched only by its allure. The only drawback I can think of is its hefty price tag.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Which fragrances smell like Clive Christian Town & Country?
Town & Country, to my nose, is a mix of Nishane Hacivat and Sauvage Elixir.

To be honest, 400 GBP for 50 ml is almost like a thousand dollars for 100 ml, which is definitely pricey, especially when it does not bring forward a new DNA fragrance.

Clive Christian X and Clive Christian 1872 are two of my all-time favorite fragrances.
