On December 17th, Christian Dior announced the addition of French football superstar, Kylian Mbappe, to their long list of global ambassadors. Mbappe will assume the role of representing men’s fashion and arguably the most popular men’s fragrance today, Sauvage.
The designer house inked a deal with French football club Paris St.Germain in early September, providing the players with game-day suits and accessories. Although prior to this date, Dior’s newest global ambassador wasn’t a stranger to their design. From the flashy Air Jordan 1 sneakers to subtle denim and sweaters, Mbappe loved to wear Dior’s clothing out on the street.
Most recently, he has been seen enjoying Kim Jones’ ready-to-wear garments. Hoodies, knit sweaters and sneakers tend to be the way Mbappe shows his love for Dior. Although, he often opts for tailored Dior suits for award ceremonies.
Fortunately, his terrific off-field outfits match his play on it. He began his professional career at A.S. Monaco in which he quickly moved into the first team, delivering 15 goals in 29 games at the tender age of 19. Just last season, Mbappe netted 27 goals in just 31 Ligue 1 matches.
Dior’s newest global ambassador has the tough task of furthering the Sauvage legacy. Beginning with Johnny Depp in 2015, the fragrance became a fan favourite due to its inviting nature and playful aromas. Now, the original fragrance has been flanked four times, developing a strong grasp on fragrance lovers.
Mbappe and Dior have the opportunity to make a splash in the world of fragrance. The possibilities are endless for the team at Dior and the way in which they incorporate their newest global ambassador.
