Guerlain Musc Outreblanc: A New Addition to the L’art et La Matiere Collection

In celebration of the new year, Guerlain has released Musc Outreblanc, a new addition to the L’art et La Matiere collection. The brand reconstructed the collection by releasing Rose Cherie and Santal Pao Rosa in the summer of 2021, furthering the collection with Neroli Outrenoir.

Musc Outreblanc was imagined by Delphine Jelk who created a fragrance that is the “monolith of immaculate musks,” according to Guerlain. Their latest creation begins with a simple yet effective amalgamation of White Musk, Ambrette Seeds and Neroli.

The fragrance then has heart notes of Orange Blossom Absolute which plays with Bulgarian Rose and Iris Pallida. The combination is powdery, assuming a prominent Iris characteristic. Except, there is an underlying freshness that is pronounced beneath the chalk-like aroma.

Then, White Amber and Sandalwood bring the fragrance home. It settles with a soothing freshness that is slightly woody and floral. The scent is “Intimate and comforting.”

To add to the beauty of the fragrance, Guerlain has partnered with Anne Lopez, a sculptor who was chosen to reinterpret the aroma in a physical form. Lopez created a panel of flowers that were carved into bas-relief, white marble which is turned into powder, then shaped and hardened.

The sculpture is detailed in 22-carat gold leaf, numbered at only 500 pieces. The design may be retrofitted onto any bottle from the L’are et La Matiere collection with ease.

Guerlain Musc Outreblanc releases on January 20th, 2022. The bottles are available in 100ml and 200ml sizes, retailing at $335 USD and $480 USD. The plaque will retail for $135 and in-store bottle refills will cost $250 or $360 based on the size.
