Hidden gems vol. 11: Solo Loewe Platinum The Sophistication of Simplicity
Back again to our hidden gems series, Today we have one of my all-time favorites. Our guest of honor comes from a house full of hidden gems. Loewe is a Loewe is one of the world’s avantgarde luxury houses. It has a Spanish origin which is not a very familiar origin for fashion houses which gives its releases a certain eccentric edge and uniqueness. One of these supreme releases is Loewe Solo Loewe platinum.
Loewe Solo Platinum is a Fresh spicy leathery and somewhat green fragrance. It was put on show in 2012 as a dark flanker to the original fresh 2004 Loewe solo EDT and, even though it did not get the fame other perfumes were born lucky with, I believe it is one of the most gorgeous releases among the world of perfumery.
Scent profile wise, Loewe Solo Platinum is pretty linear. I can not notice changes between the notes with time but, some notes become more prominent as we go along while others may degrade. The most prominent notes to my nose are the classical lavender, some very elegant black leather along with the very attractive and strong Ambergris. The Ambergris and leather are the addition to the original Loewe Solo which shares the same DNA but in a much fresher and fruity way. Some nuances of warm Nutmeg and masculine spicy black pepper are in the background.
If you put your nose deep into it, you can also discover some elegant black tea and resinous benzoin deeming the perfume complex, unlike the shallow judgment you may make by claiming the fragrance is simple.
Loewe Solo Platinum performs very well. It has great longevity, sillage, and projection. People normally notice and compliment me when I wear the fragrance. It is also easy on the nose and can be worn at almost any occasion. Age wise, I believe Loewe Solo Platinum to fit both young and middle-aged men. It is best worn in fall, Spring, or even summer nights.
Loewe Solo Loewe Platinum retails for 116 USD but, you can find it at about 60 USD in sales or at discounters which makes it a true hidden gem. So, have you tried Loewe Solo Platinum? What about the original Loewe Solo EDT? Do you think they are worthy of being called hidden gems? Kindly share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
