Kilian Blue Moon Ginger Dash: An Icy Experience
Okay folks, forgive my enthusiasm. I have been waiting for this one even since it was announced, so I might go into fanboy territory. Just a heads up. Kilian has released Blue Moon Ginger Dash on its French website. Previous sources said that this would not drop until April, so it caught many of us by surprise.
“Blue Moon Ginger Dash is a limited edition for the summer season inspired by our founder Kilian Hennessy’s favorite summer cocktail, the cult drink of 90s beach parties, Blue Lagoon, a blend of lemon, vodka and caracao liqueur blue.” – Kilian
Kilian Blue Moon Ginger Dash bursts forth with vibrant fresh lemon and calone, which is an aquatic note that combines with the lemon to create what the brand calls an “on the rocks” freshness. A heart of chilled vodka permeates the scent and reinforces the clean freshness, while ginger adds depth. A base of ambroxan and clean white musk ensure the lasting trail of this scent will be just as clean as the start.

As I said previously, I have been waiting for this one. If you have read any of my work on this site, then you know I am a huge fan of fresh fragrances, especially citruses and aquatics, which this has a bit of both. I am also a huge fan of Sean John 3 AM, which will likely bear no resemblance to this perfume from Kilian, but it has the icy freshness to it, which I imagine will put it in a similar genre.
With the vodka accord, I have already heard of comparisons with Vodka on the Rocks. However, Kilian is not a clone house. They are not going to clone their own fragrance. While there might be some similarities due to the vodka accord and the “on the rocks” vibe that the Parisian brand loves to use, this will be a unique scent.
The bottle comes in a blue and clear gradient stylized in the same fashion as The Liquors line from the brand. I am unsure if this one will be a refillable botte. Due to it being a limited edition, it will not have refills as far as my sources have told me. Also, did I mention that blue is my favorite color? It is available as a 50ml eau de parfum that will set you back 210.00€ on the French site. Kilian products usually arrive in the US about a month later.
