My Worst Fragrance Purchase
Let’s face it, the vast majority of us have blind-bought a fragrance or two…some of us have even purchased hundreds without sampling them first. Sometimes you just want to take a chance and see if it pays off. We could read a dissertation on a fragrance and do all of the research in the world, but it is still no replacement for our own olfactory senses.
Sometimes, these buys go wrong. My worst fragrance purchase was Montale Starry Nights. The thing is, I had tried Starry Nights before, but I was into rose at the time (I still am), so I figured I could take a chance due to raving reviews. Let’s just say that it didn’t work for me. Cloyingly sweet rose jam. I knew it would be synthetic because it’s a Montale, but this was an absolute travesty to the beauty of the majestic rose. It tamed a bit when the patchouli in the base came out, but it wasn’t nearly enough to redeem this monster. That one hit the selling block rather quickly, and I never looked back
Do you have a story about your worst Fragrance purchase? I’d like to hear it. Was it a blind buy or something you sampled and thought you loved? How long did you give it until you gave up on it? Yesterday was my birthday, so I am curious about your worst fragrance gift as well.
