Yves Saint Laurent Y Eau de Parfum Intense: Don’t ask ‘Y’, Ask ‘How’.
Yves Saint Laurent has just blessed their male fans with their latest addition to the Y for men line of fragrances. Having met warm reception and acclaim from the fandom after the huge success of the Eau de Parfum edition that was released back in 2018, the house decided to work on a more intense version of the formula to cater for those who appreciated the original formula but want to take it up a notch.
This year, Yves Saint Laurent did not waste time and unveiled Y Eau de Parfum Intense which stays faithful to its predecessor but adds a much welcome, and perhaps needed for some, twist to the notes. This isn’t the first flanker to the line. The line has seen its share of flankers and reformulations. For instance, in 2021 the house launched Y Le Parfum. Also, the Eau de Toilette edition has seen a formulation just last year. This year’s release, however, might prove to be exactly what fans were asking for.
2018’s Y Eau de Parfum had its aromatic Fougere notes, with top notes of Apple, Ginger, and Bergamot, middle notes of Sage, Juniper Berries, and Geranium, and base notes of Amber, Tonka Bean, Cedar, Vetiver, and Olibanum, resulting in an interestingly rich ambery, aromatic, spicy and woody scent.
2023’s Intense version, however, received slight variations. For starters, the Apple top note was taken out of the mix for a more aromatic and spicy feel. The middle and base notes have also seen tweaks; lavender was added to the heart and cedarwood was used in the base instead of amber and the same can be said about the Patchouli from Bali which was added in place of the Olibanum
